A media institution is an established, often profit based organisation like Warner-Bros. or Sony, that deals in the creation and distribution of advertising, entertainment and information services. Largely trans-national in nature but can exist in a smaller national form. While a media institution is similar to a media conglomerate, it differs in that it can be a non-commercial entity; whereas a media conglomerate is a commercial entity. For example the UK media regulatory body Ofcom can be considered a media institution but is not a Media conglomerate. Examples of Media Institutions include: News International, Time Warner, General Electric, Viacom, The Walt Disney Company. Not all media institutions are profit driven, for example the BBC (British broadcasting corporation) is a public service broadcaster which means that they must show educational programmes as well as entertainment this is because the BBC is funded by television license payers and the government.
The kind of media institution that would distribute my movie would be an independent. English institution such as film four because they have made relatively low budget films like slumdog millionaire which has been incredibly successful grossing $377,417,293 with a budget of $15.1 million. This would be the kind of budget I would hope to receive to make this movie. Film four have also made successful movies like ‘In Bruges’ which was made for $15 million and grossed $33 million and ‘sexy beast’ which was made on a budget of $3 million and grossed $7 million in the us alone. They have a well recognised name and good publicity which would boost the profile of the movie with a good marketing department. My film is a thriller/horror and film four has successfully produced films within the thriller genre like ‘In Bruges’ and ‘slumdog millionaire’.
My main target audience would be 16 to 25 year old males and females if taken there by their boyfriend or husband, there is also another group of people targeted which would be the devoted horror movie watchers. The main target audience would be 16 to 25 year old males because they have the most disposable income, free time and they enjoy horror and thriller genres the most. Films like ours would be ‘the orphanage’ ‘saw’ and ‘hostel’ which all are very successful movies with Saw, the budget was $1,200,000 and the gross revenue was $103,096,345. there would be a secondary audience of girlfriends of man who want to watch the movie as well.

Brief Synopsis –
The Film Sequence will be about a man who is schizophrenic and gets out of his car in front of a house. He goes into the cellar but we don’t see his face and when he is in the cellar he starts his work which is ripping bed linen, cutting masks with a knife and stitching the eyes of the mask. During this sequence the titles will flash in. Then he suddenly hears child laughter and stands up, takes his lamb and walks to see what is going on. The lamp light hits the feet of a child and then the light goes up and we have a close up of a face in a mask breathing heavily. The cold breath comes out of the mouth and builds the title.
